EMPIRE STATE BUILDING RUN UP
86 Floors, 1576 Steps, NO PROBLEM!

These eight amazing people from Stemcor USA Inc., pictured with Peter Blohm, Executive Director, completed the Empire State Building Run Up, raising $15,000 for Save the Children! As Richard says, “The first 20 floors are OK. Then you get to about the 30th and a little voice in your head asks you why the @#$%$ you are doing this? And then it’s a question of keeping that voice at bay for the remaining 56 floors…!”

with Save the Children

We are delighted that Hicks Nurseries has agreed to include Save the Children in its corporate philanthropic efforts. A friendship developed on another board led Heather Whitman and Nelson Demarest to discuss ways Hicks Nurseries could work with Save the Children. Terri Carr Muran, President of the Leadership Council of Long Island of Save the Children, joined with Nelson Demarest, Visual Merchandising Manager of Hicks, Stephen Hicks, President of the Nurseries, and Heather Whitman.

We were invited to be a part of Hicks’ annual Spring Garden and Flower Show which opened at a reception on February 27, 2008 and lasted until March 9th. We had a booth adjacent to the Jack and Jill Children’s Garden where we displayed posters, informational leaflets, and photographs while running a continuous video display of Save the Children’s programs. We not only answered the questions of many interested persons, but also received generous donations. We feel honored to be partnering with such a fine group of people
