Education is vital to lasting positive change in children’s lives. Yet for millions of children in developing countries and even here in the rural United States, it is beyond reach.
Save the Children’s Education programs are designed to help children survive and thrive from early childhood through young adulthood. They include such priorities as basic education, early childhood development, HIV/AIDS prevention, girls’ education, and nutrition education and literacy programs in the U.S.
The Save the Children Long Island Council not only focuses on supporting those vital programs, but works to inform children and adults in our own local communities about the lives of children in need. We give presentations to schools and Rotary clubs, host our annual Banbury Symposium and provide support for initiatives on behalf of Save the Children in our schools and communities.
We have given presentations at the following schools and organizations:
- Glenwood Landing School
- Buckley Country Day School
- Friend’s Academy
- East Woods School
- Portledge School
- Cold Spring Harbor High School
- St. John’s Church in Cold Spring Harbor
- Manhasset High School
- St. John’s of Lattingtown Nursery School
- Lloyd Harbor School
- Rotary of Locust Valley
- Rotary of Oyster Bay/East Norwich
