Advocacy Day: March 20 & 21 Washington, D.C.
You're invited to join Save the Children for our annual Advocacy Day and help fight child hunger. Don't miss your opportunity to help change policies to make the world a better place for children. Last year's event was a huge success and space is limited. First-timers and student advocates welcome and encouraged!
What is Advocacy Day?
Learn the ins and outs of advocacy through interactive workshops. Discuss critical domestic and global policy issues affecting children today. Participate in exclusive briefings from high impact speakers. Visit with your Members of Congress and staff and volunteer your voice for children in need.
Did you know?
Malnutrition and hunger-related diseases kill more than 2.6 million children every year.
Don't let Congress turn a deaf-ear to the cries of hungry and malnourished children. Be their voice and join us at Save the Children's 10th Annual Advocacy Day.

Former Senate Majority Leader, Dr. Bill Frist, Andrew Viklund, Maggie Viklund
Representing Save the Children’s Long Island Council, Maggie Viklund and her son, Andrew, attended the two day event in Washington, D.C., along with Henry Babcock, who serves on Save the Children’s Education Council. They attended workshops and presentations by Save the Children staff, providing them with an in-depth education on the issue of literacy and ways to advocate on behalf of children before Members of Congress. Then Maggie and Andrew went to Capitol Hill to have meetings at the Congressional offices of Representative Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ), Representative Jason Atmire (D-PA) and Representative Peter T. King (R-NY) where they asked them to support two important pieces of legislation: The Investment in Afterschool Programs Act of 2009 and The Full Service Community Schools Act of 2009.
